Last night saw the first public Hawksbill hatchling release for the 2014 nesting season. The Barbados Sea Turtle Project released 167 hatchling Hawksbill Turtles on Fitts Village Beach with plenty of support from the general public. The entire family was invited to come along and learn more about this amazing species as we watch them start the first leg of a long and incredible journey.
It was fantastic to see so many people on the beach all supporting the great work that the BSTP do. There was a short but extremely informative talk about the turtles and why they were being released in the evening which captured the minds of all attending. It was also great to see so many children getting involved in the actual release.
