St Mary's Church

St Mary’s Church is located in the city centre of Bridgetown. St Mary’s is located in lower broad street which is an extremely beautiful location on the island. The Church is situated near to the Jubilee garden and is a beautiful location on the island.

St Mary’s is situated on the site where the first city Church was built. The now St Michaels Cathedral was first built on the site in 1641 and was rebuilt in it’s current location. St Mary’s Church is known for it’s beautiful features and is renowned for being more larger and impressive than some of the other Parish churches on the island. St Mary’s Church is a wonderful area to visit whilst in the Bridgetown area. St Mary’s church is also solidly built as it managed to survive the 1831 hurricane that rocked the island. Many of the islands Parish Churches had fell victim to the storm, however, he strength of St Mary’s Church prevailed The Church also provides many with simply wonderful Georgian style and is definitely worth a visit. The Church also includes a beautiful silk tree that has a brilliant history as people used to be hung their if a crime was committed. The Church is one of of the most visually stunning on the island and the history of the Church definitely adds to the wonderful visuals. The Church is also extremely well maintained as recent developments has seenj a new sign being invested in by the the Barbados Tourism inc.

Overall St Mary’s Church is a great place to visit when in Bridgetown as you will be blow away by the Churches history and style.
